Stokes Co. Schools Vision
Stokes County Schools will create a safe and caring learning environment where all students graduate as life-long learners who are future ready and globally competitive.
To help students unlock their "inner reader" and develop a love of reading. To enhance my students aesthetic view of reading, and change their opinion that reading is simply a series of steps and skills to be performed only in school. My goal is to empower each and every student to reach their potential and become life-long readers.
"At the center of the curriculum are not the works of literature....but rather the mind as it meets the book"
- Alan Purves
"Reading changes your life. Reading unlocks worlds unknown or forgotten, taking travelers around the world and through time. Reading helps you escape the confines of school and pursue your own education. Through characters – the saints and the sinners, real or imagined – reading shows you how to be a better human being."
- Donalyn Miller
"Massive evidence supports the view that only one method of improving reading ability really works: engaging in a great deal of interesting, comprehensible reading."
- Stephen Krashen
"Those who don't read have no advantage over those who can't read."
- Mark Twain
"No matter how busy you may think you are, you must time find for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorrance."
